Van Driving Training

Who needs van training?

Anyone driving ANY van on university business is required to have van training certification.

What is van training?

The university van training course is an approximately 1 1/2 hour class that has classroom and practicum portions. Registration for the class is required and can be done by calling Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) at 346-3192.

Attendees of the van course still need to submit a request for "Driver Certification" through the Dept of Public Safety (DPS) at 346-5444. The van training course can be attended prior to receiving the "Yellow Driver Certification Card" from DPS. "Driver Certification" is valid for 12 months for students and 36 months for faculty and staff. Van certification is a one-time training and is valid indefinitely.

Why does one need van training?

Both van and driver certification are required by Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 571-10-100 through 571-10-140.

When is van training offered?

Van training classes are offered a minimum of twice monthly by EHS, with the frequency increasing as need arises (usually the beginning of the school year and each quarter).

Where is the training conducted?

Please contact Environmental Health & Safety at 346-3192,  for class location and registration.
