SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Attendees:   Michelle Wygle, Bob Beals, Janice Radcliffe, Kay Coots, Anne Mattson,
Ernie Svensson, Mary Clayton, Steve Pelkey, Kathy Viscarra, Sue Martinez, Mark Maguire

Accident and injury reports were reviewed and discussed.

There were three time loss claims in September.

One correction noted to Housing Accident Summary:  delete the word “machine” from the accident description “lifted milk machine onto cart”.

The two separate accidents listed in the Romance Languages department occurred on the same day to the same person.

Ernie said that he witnessed the accident of an employee that was struck by a skateboarder while crossing a Franklin.  Several committee members commented that the turnaround off Franklin is a very dangerous area.

The lab where a custodian received a needle puncture for the second time is on notice.

New Business:

Chairperson election:  the committee nominated and unanimously voted to elect Michelle Wygle for a third term.

The Inspection subcommittee will inspect the Living Learning Center.

The next Safety Advisory Committee meeting will be held on November 16^th from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the EMU Board Room.
