SAFETY ADVISORY
COMMITTEE Accident and
injury reports were reviewed and discussed. There were three time loss claims in June. A Facilities Services employee splashed varnish and eye became irritated. The employee was not wearing eye protection. In this case, there was no requirement that it be worn. The supervisor did recommend that the employee wear eye protection in the future when working with this type of varnish. Subcommittee
Reports The Inspection Subcommittee has not
received a written
report from the staff following Education building inspection. However, a verbal report was received
indicating
that most of the sited items have been corrected. Old
Business Kay inspected the part of a post
that had been cut off near the Some Facilities Services employees worked on pressure washing a roof and did not realize that there was asbestos contaminated material. In addition there were two employees occupying space in the Education trailer. The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency (LRAPA) investigated the incident. An outside contractor is now doing the asbestos abatement. Facilities Services maintains an inventory of all asbestos on campus. The next Safety
Advisory Committee meeting will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on
August 16th
