Meeting Minutes June 9, 2005 EMU Century A Attendees: Michelle Wygle, Kay Coots, Steve Hecker, Ernie Pressman, Don McIntyre, Cheryl Henderson, Steve Pelkey, Johnny Earl, Mark Maguire, Paul Bruch The May minutes were approved with one change. Add Michelle Gillette as an attendee; remove Kathy Viscarra Accident and injury reports were reviewed and discussed. Steve Pelkey asked that a correction be made to the Facilities Services summary. The number in the type of claim categories should read “3” SAIR and “0” SAIF. Old Business Michelle Gillette has compiled a report showing the breakdown of SAIF and time loss claims over a three-year period of time by department. Kay said that they will bring it to the July meeting. Steve asked that the Facilities Services and Custodial accidents and injuries be broken into separate groups. Kay reported that the university has received the OR-OSHA citation following their inspection of Spiller and HP Barnhardt. The inspector cited tongue guards on two grinders located in Spiller. A $105 penalty was received for one of the grinders, and it has been posted for payment. Don asked if the university has adopted a definitive policy on Inclement Weather. Ernie said that the approved policy is available on the Human Resources web site. Kay reported that Med Express has been called to an accident site two or three times. It has become apparent that if the service is to be used effectively, more information about Med Express and its services will need to be disseminated to campus users. Kay believes that Tom Hicks is working on a letter to Deans, Directors, and Department Heads regarding procedures for using Med Express services. The next Safety Advisory Committee meeting will be held in the EMU Alsea Room on Thursday, July 28th from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Kay Coots R.S., CSP Environmental Health and Safety Director Phone: (541) 346-5421 E-Mail: kcoots@uoregon.edu |
